The 5 Bonds: Why No Photo?

bigzilchobigzilcho Toronto, ONPosts: 245MI6 Agent
Sean Connery,George Lazenby,Roger Moore,Timothy Dalton,Pierce Brosnan. Where is the picture, gentlemen?

Just wondering if anyone else realizes that there has never been a photograph taken of the 5 Bonds together at one time. (If there is such a photo, please let me know). It is shocking...SHOCKING...that no one (like Vanity Fair) has been able to unite five actors in one room to historically record what is essentially the single most exclusive club in movie history. Timothy Dalton once remarked that the the 5 actors will forever be connected together(calling it "The Silhouette Club).

Unlike a rock band that has shared the ups and downs of success, these five men are tied to each other, but have never worked together. Each alone, but united. It is the passing of the baton...a sense of shared lineage...that should be acknowledged an recorded.

George Harrison once remarked that he felt sorry for Elvis because he was all alone at the top of the summit whereas the Beatles had each other.
There are only five men who know what its like to have to live under the pressure of having to perform a role that Sean Connery once said was "as difficult as playing Hamlet".
You can't tell me that Bond fans the world over wouldn't be overjoyed to see a photo spread of the 5 007's looking sharp in their tuxes. Or better yet, a unified appearence at the Oscars.
A one time event is all I'm asking for.Of course, each of the five has had squabbles with the the producers and ambivalence with the role in general but they are all still vital parts of the Bond family.
Selfishly speaking, as a life-long Bond fan, this single event would signal a sense of closure and collective harmony to the Bond universe. Balance would be restored to the House of Bond. (An with it, an unlimited future. Daniel Craig is the first Bond of Volume 2 in the 007 saga) It is the appreciation of tradition and lineage that is being adressed here.
Each of the 5 would no doubt balk at the invitation but you get the feeling that if any smart exec would be able to bring them together a wonderful time of laughs and drinks would be had by all.(Especially Roger)
I'm not sure if there's anything we humble Bond fans can do to see this event transpire except murmur amongst ourselves and hopefully, someone figures it out.

"It's an inspired plan,Goldfinger".

Seeing all the Bonds together would be a fantastic photograph: the shots of Moore, Dalton and Brosnan at Cubby Broccoli's memorial provided a small fanboy thrill.

I doubt if it will ever happen; there's no love lost between Eon and Connery, Lazenby and now Brosnan, but you never know - perhaps something to celebrate the new film. Moore has been friends with Connery since the sixties, and is pally with Dalton and Brosnan too; he could perhaps be the lynchpin. The logistics alone would be somewhat daunting (six successful actors in one room together) but Annie Liebowitz brought together the Bond Girls in connection with TWINE: it could still happen. Picture the six faces on the front of Vanity Fair - a sellout issue, surely?

I absolutely agree, jetsetwilly. If anyone would be able to bring together the 5 Bonds , without question, that man's name would be Roger Moore.
There is something about Roger's charm (which served him well as the most debonair 007) that makes him universally engaging to practically everyone, even his toughest Bond critics. The oldest of the Bonds, Roger always seemed the most comfortable amongst the five, in simply enjoying the fact that he was 007.
Arguably the series greatest ambassador, he is in the unique position (as you said) of being the Bond that all the other Bonds are friendly with. (Besides, you just know that Roger would have a whale of a time swapping Bond war stories with the only four men who know exactly what he is talking about)
Perhaps there is a slight chance after all in getting the photo. No question about it, Roger is the lynchpin.

Well, don't forget that four of them were present at the DAD premiere and the BBC TV special at the same time, but even then I don't think a group photo was arranged for whatever reason.

The big stumbling block would be Sean I think. Although perhaps the FRWL game shows his mood has lightened a little.

As for a photo tied into promotion for the next film, I think they'd have to torture Brosnan with a carpet beater to get him to help promote the next film. And considering Connery was in town for the 40th anniversary/DAD event and was a no show my guess is his answer would be no as well.

Now if it was for an event outside of promoting the franchise/next film that would line EON's pockets, you'd probably have a much better chance of getting them all together.

Considering though that there were the 4 Bonds at the DAD/BAFTA function you'd think there would be more than one small fuzzy scan from a newspaper floating around the web of it.

I'm sure I had a photo of the 4 Bonds and that it possibly came from a website concerned with the premiere, can't find the photo or remember the site - sorry.

Oh lovely- don't think I've seen that before. Am I right in thinking they didn't get on stage together in the TV show?

And goodness- is Roger the only one who can dress well? :) Black shirt? Wing collar? Droopy tie? Oh dear, Bonds!

You are right in thinking that they didn't get on stage together during the TV show. Michael Parkinson interviewed them seperately. It would have been really nice to see them all together, even if it was just for a brief moment at the end of the show.

I believe the four might have also stood together on the stage at the actual premiere of Die Another Day as well. I think I've pics around of that.

Maybe someone could bring them together in the name of charity and sell autographed pictures of all of them together. Connery, Moore and Brosnan are very active in charity work, I don't know about Dalton or Lazenby, but it could raise some nice change.

The problem here is that Connery is only just thawing but now Pierce is pretty ticked off!! Chances of this ever happening ... Very slim :( ( though I would love it dearly )

Though as MBE said ,maybe if it was away from Eon and not directly promoting Bond ...

Here are three of them at Cubbys memorial at the Odeon Leicester Square, Nov 17, 1996

Nice pics, Lady Rose! You know, I never realized how tall Dalton really was (or perhaps Moore and Brosnan are simply shorter than I imagined). Curious to see how Craig "stacks up" in the mix.

A couple more photos from that event. The sidewalk is pretty slanted in Dalton's favor (you can see that in the first photo), so it's not a great set of photos to gage height.

Would it be dreadfully common to say "phwoar" at Dalton in this pic? The man has definitely improved with age!

It took me forever to find this topic again (and no thanks to the search fucntions :p ) but I didn't want to start a new topic just to post these new photos I recently got of some of the Bond actors together. Anyhow...

Great pics, MBE! (although I vould have gone without seeing the glimpse of Moore's thighs above. Is that a tennis skirt he's wearing?)

Connery's looking as classy as ever.

Wow..I've never seen Connery smile so much! :) I was really surprised by the first black and white one with Roger, do you know what year that was MBE?

I love the tennis one, it's just so casual, and they look like old buddies...very cool!

    Thanks for that.

They didn't have dates on them for some reason, but looking at what Roger is wearing my guess would be mid 70s. My favorite of them together is the last one as well because it's so casual, friendly and unposed looking.

I prefer the one with Michael Caine as IMO it's the most relaxed. I have to say though that the tennis photo is interesting because of the way Moore has both of his arms around his racquet. Perhaps he was a little uncomfortable with Connery's arm on his shoulder?
